Pakistan (MNN) -- While the world watches ISIS continue its stronghold in Syria and Iraq, it's now reaching out into other parts of the region.

Fighters loyal to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria are now in complete control of the city of Derna: population of about 100,000, not far from the Egyptian border and just about 200 miles from the southern shores of the European Union.

Now, we're hearing from Christian workers in Pakistan that the country may be the next to fall. Bruce Allen with Forgotten Missionaries International says, "The Taliban have already sworn allegiance to ISIS. So, it's bound to happen in the next one month to six months."

That's not the worst of the problems. "Pakistan is a nuclear power. And if the government or military falls, things will get very bad if the nuclear weapons fall into rouge[...]

Liberia (MNN) -- Ebola: the crisis swept through West Africa over the course of several months, prompting a global scare.

The World Health Organization released figures this week showing that nearly 3,000 Liberians died from Ebola since it surfaced last spring and exploded this summer.-#160; The country bore the brunt of the illness, but now it seems, things are turning a corner. Liberia's president hopes to defeat the dreaded disease by Christmas.

While Peggy Maynard, Global Fingerprints Liberia Coordinator, shares some relief at good news, there's a cautionary note. "We're very thankful that the rate of infections does seem to be slowing, and we pray that it will continue. However, I don't want people to think that the crisis in Liberia is over, because it isn't by a long-shot."

Ebola has left long-lasting scars in Liberia. "Their economy has been devastated. About half of the people in the country are[...]

West Africa (RBD) -- One lesson taught is another one learned.

When staff from the partner Christian radio station in the West African country of Burkina Faso prepared to lead a hygiene lesson in a nearby community, they never imagined it would draw more than 200 people. And they didn't realize that their words would be translated into two to three languages so everyone could understand.

Although unexpected, these realities added to the richness of the training. Beneath the shade trees and bamboo shelters of this rural village, babies fussed and children fidgeted, but everyone was attentive and engaged.

Men, women, and children spoke in their native languages as they joined the conversation around posters of daily behaviors, categorizing them as healthy or unhealthy. Volunteers demonstrated effective techniques for hand-washing amid encouragement and laughter from their friends and neighbors.

India (MNN) -- Have you ever used an ultrasound to share the Gospel? Life Matters Worldwide educates national believers about pro-life issues and equips them with resources like ultrasound machines so they can reach out to women with unplanned pregnancies. By starting conversations with women about life and its value, doors open to share the message of Christ.

Bob Foust recently visited India with Life Matters to teach 200 pastors about the process.

"There are, around the world, 55 million abortions a year. India ranks about 4th on that list of abortions per capita," Foust shares. "If the Church is 'geared up' and ready to reach [women] at that point, I believe [it] can be a great, great opportunity.

Philippines (MNN/WYC) -- In 1999, Wycliffe Bible Translators USA realized that if Bible translations continued to go slowly, it wouldn't be until 2150 that a Bible translation could be started for every language.

So they dreamed up Vision 2025: a commitment to do what they can to get a Bible translation program going in every language by 2025.

As of this month, the full Bible has been translated into over 500 languages, and with the help of computers, the process has gone much quicker.

But one of the programs in the Philippines has hit a bump in the road.

Recently, a vital computer modem was stolen from the Matigsalug translation team. While the team has already drafted 90% of the Old Testament, their work slowed down considerably after the theft.

It has already been difficult for team members to communicate with each other, especially for those living in remote areas, but this is another discouraging trial[...]

India (MNN) -- Remember that Global Terrorism Index (GTI) we told you about yesterday? The Global Terrorism Index Top 5 countries land on MNN headlines a lot, since terrorism is often linked to religion.

"Religion as a driving ideology for terrorism has drastically increased since 2000. Prior to 2000, nationalist separatist agendas were the biggest drivers of terrorist organizations," the GTI notes in its summary. Groups aligning with radical Islam--Islamic State, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, and the Taliban--were responsible for two-thirds of last year's terror-related deaths.

But in country #6, most fatalities caused by terrorist attacks occur at the hands of Communist extremists.

Lebanon (MNN/SAT7) -- It's time to celebrate.

SAT-7, a Christian satellite television ministry to the Middle-East and North Africa, has opened a brand new multi-studio for SAT-7 Lebanon.

On November 15, 2014, almost 500 Church leaders, Parliament members, Government officials, and SAT-7 partners gathered to celebrate the launch.

"Truth, Love, Freedom, and Justice are the four principles that form the basis for peace in the family, in society, in church, and in government. SAT-7 serves all these principles: proclaiming, teaching, educating, and building culture. SAT-7 is a gift from God, from whom every good gift comes," Bechara Boutros Al-Raii, the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch said.

SAT-7 Lebanon was established in 1996 and was the network's first production center. Initially, the facility only had 100 square meters of studio space.

Founder and CEO Terence Ascott said, "At that time, I wondered how we would use all the space, but[...]

CRI says their six containers are in limbo in the Philippines.

Philippines (MNN) -- On the heels of a ministry's largest outreach ever, it is facing challenges in the Philippines.

Christians Resources International is a ministry that takes gently-used Bibles and Christian books and sends them to Christians requesting those resources. Earlier this fall, Christians Resources International traveled to the Philippines to hold pastors' conferences, host a Christian concert/evangelistic meeting, and establish a literature distribution center there.

Christian Resources International Executive Director Jason Woolford says, "Our goal was to send [resources worth] $3 million (6 sea containers filled with Bibles and Christian books) for free, to just bless the people of the Philippines."

4,000 people attended the concert held by CRI, and hundreds attended the pastoral training. Each attender was promised a Bible and Christian book. However, things didn't quite go according to plan,[...]

Kenya (MNN) -- A pastor caught out as a "charlatan" in Kenya has created a lot of problems for Christians there.

Voice of the Martyrs USA spokesman Todd Nettleton explains what happened. "It seems that there has been some undercover reporting from some churches in Kenya. Some of the things that they had reported as miracles--people being healed and so forth--this undercover reporter has turned up that they are, in fact, hoaxes."

The undercover report revealed a miracle faking spree, and according to the report from Christianity Today, the pastor at the center of the scandal was bilking his followers by asking them for advance payment for prayers and miracles. According to the expose, the pastor also coached members of his congregation to give false testimonies.

Kenya (ORO/MNN) -- Many kids nowadays see school as a prison. They feel like caged birds as they sit and wait for the bell to ring. But students in The Madeleine School are completely opposite. They see it as a sanctuary.

The Madeleine School sits in Bungoma, Kenya, bordered by Uganda in the West. Bungoma is a rural town with its main source being sugar.

But just because it produces sugar, it doesn't make it sweet.

Many families in the town face extreme poverty, and a lot of these children are orphans living with extended families. According to UNICEF there are more than 2.6 million orphans in Kenya; about 1.2 million of them have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS.

The Madeleine School provides children with a meal and an education, something that has become more rare in Kenya. According to Orphan Outreach, few children complete their schooling and many are often obliged to work instead of going to school.

One month into his new presidency, Jokowi Widodo, is living up to his reputation as a reformer by proposing a controversial change. Voice of the Martyrs USA spokesman Todd Nettleton explains, "He's proposing a bill. He says it will come before the Parliament within the next six months to protect religious minorities. That would include Christians. There's another facet of change that he wants to make which would remove religious identity from the national ID cards that the Indonesia government issues." Next week a team from Vision Beyond Borders will be traveling to some of the refugee camps and distributing supplies. They hope to pass out items in time for their Christmas outreach.

Lesotho (MNN) -- Some people pack up a bag, head to remote locations, and try to survive in rustic conditions. Why? They enjoy the peace maybe, or they want to say they can survive without modern technology.

When that is a question presented to you on a daily basis, imagine someone coming to your town with a third option: clean water.

In La Gonave, this is reality. Steve Edmondson of Starfysh says that dirty water is the second-largest cause of death on the island.

"Clean water is a major, major, major issue in all of Haiti," Edmondson says, "especially La Gonave which is isolated from the rest of Haiti."

This causes diseases like Typhoid and Cholera.

In most western countries, we don't know the reality of day-to-day life-and-death decisions.

"Its not that they have a choice,"-#160;Edmondson says. "There is no clean water for them. It's not like they have clean water on the one hand, dirty water on the other hand, and they opt for the dirty water. And when they're thirsty and they're dehydrated and they might[...]

Iraq (CAM/MNN) -- As night-time temperatures begin to drop, locally-based aid workers report that illness is deepening the gloom for many Internally Displaced People (IDPs) already discouraged at the lack of prospects for returning home.

"The needs are great, and the displaced feel very disappointed," said the director of an Iraqi ministry providing aid in northern Iraq's Kurdistan region. "They thought they would return to their homes within days, but the wait is getting longer. Now they know they will not return soon, and their condition is worsening with the onset of winter and the low level of aid."

In Erbil, Dohuk, and Zakho, where people arrived when Islamic State (ISIS) militants drove them from their homes in Mosul and other areas of Iraq, IDPs are suffering acute respiratory infections, flu, and severe cases of diarrhea, among other illnesses. They need medicines for these sicknesses, as well as antibiotics, treatment for burns, and drugs[...]

Middle East (MNN) -- The Islamic State (also known as ISIS) and al-Qaeda are teaming up in Syria, and more Middle East groups are pledging allegiance to the caliphate.

Late last week, reports surfaced of the terrorist groups agreeing to work together in Syria instead of fighting each other. Al-Qaeda initially distanced itself from the Islamic State, but as ISIS has grown in resources and size, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda has vowed to fight with Islamic State instead of against it.

In addition, an audio clip reportedly featuring ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi acknowledged the allegiance of Muslim radicals in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Egypt, Libya, and Algeria.

Meanwhile, Islamic State growth in Pakistan is going virtually unnoticed.

"More than 400 Islamic State leaders are in Pakistan. They are operating in Syria and Iraq from Pakistan," shares *Nehemiah, the national director of Forgotten Missionaries International's work[...]

Burma (MNN) -- Already this year, over 100,000 Rohingya have willingly gotten onboard boats they know might lead them to their death or to a life of slavery. Why? Because the government of their homeland is starving them to death.

This group of Muslims lives in West Burma. Steve Gumaer of Partners Relief and Development says, "These people, since 2012, have been marginalized." That's the year their houses were burned down.

Gumaer continues, "They either live in refugee camps or in isolated areas and islands around the city of Sittwe. These people don't get the provisions they need--and I mean the-#160; most basic things like food, shelter, water and such."

Partners tries to meet the physical needs of these oppressed people since the occasional distribution of food is far too little to keep them alive.

"Because they're in a state of a slow kind of genocide, and a slow policy of starvation by the government, many of[...]

International (MNN) -- Imagine loving a prostitute who is addicted to drugs but still trying to support her family.

Imagine loving a 19-year-old girl with scars up and down her arms and chest.

EFCA ReachGlobal Crisis Response's TREK7 is doing just that. They are ministering to and loving the unloved and invisible people of this world. Teams focus on building relationships with people no matter where they are in their life.

For seven weeks, teams of college-age young adults travel to various destinations around the globe. Journeys can be anywhere from Zambia to Minneapolis.

Leandra, who traveled to Berlin, said, "These women aren't usually touched with love. So I got to hold their hand and I got to look into their eyes and I got to clean the dirt under their fingernails." In the city of Berlin, only 1% of the population is Christian.

Another TREK7 team member, Janelle, described going to Bangkok and[...]

Africa (MNN) -- First, a wee bit of history on Biblica, a 200-year-old group committed to providing God's Word around the world. Specifically, we'll look at one arm of the group, Biblica Africa, because the new CEO of Biblica, Dr. Carl Moeller, just wrapped up a week in Nairobi, Kenya.

The ministry was first registered in Kenya on 9 September 1976 as Living Bibles. By 1983/84, the organization had begun its maiden work of Bible Translation in Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Currently, Biblica Africa distributes a wide variety of Bibles across Africa through partners and through the 12 National Offices in Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. The distribution arm has grown to become the main source of income for the ministry's operations.

Since the 70s, governments throughout Africa have risen, some have fallen.[...]

Asia-Pacific (NTM) --

New Tribes Mission shares this story about the lengths to which people will go when they are hungry for God's Word.

Finally, the time had come. The Bible lessons that Wapane longed to hear would be taught. She would be able to hear the stories about God and His Deliverer that had changed so many lives.

However, the lessons would be in a village nearly two hours away by foot, and Wapane, the oldest Moi woman, was now too frail to walk the trail.

Ginogui, a relative of Wapane, had heard the stories and placed his faith in Jesus. He knew he had to do something.

The predicament stared him in the face. The trail to the village where they would teach was muddy, narrow, and steep. Even if he could manage to carry her, she wouldn't be able to cling to his back for two hours.

Ginogui prepared for the trip as he didn't want miss an opportunity to hear the stories. But he couldn't let go of[...]
